Philosophy of Ministry on TeachingThe church is called to be the foundation and pillar of truth (1 Tim 3:14-15). The basic task of FBC is to teach accurate doctrine (Titus 2:1) in order to equip our people to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission which is to love God and others, and to make disciples (Mt 22:37-39; 28:18-20). The pastor and leaders teach accurate doctrine through expository teaching, giving the sense and explaining the propositions of the Scriptures (Neh 8:5-8; 1 Tim 4:13). The leaders are to be immersed in diligent Bible study and held accountable for the fidelity of the church (1 Tim 4:16). Through preventative preaching the congregation will naturally identify false teaching.The pastor teaches the whole congregation accurate doctrine so that by multiplying (2 Tim 2:2) they can teach others to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.(scroll down) LeadershipThe Biblical model for church leadership exists in the collective decisions, character, and wisdom of an elder board. The pastor is also an elder. Men are qualified for this nomination if they have an exemplary character as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. While elders serve by leading, deacons lead by serving. Deacons must meet the same character qualifications as elders except for having the ability to teach (1 Tim 3 & Titus 1). Typically, elders devote themselves to the preaching and teaching of the Word of God and to prayer. Deacons care for the physical and material needs of the church. Outside of these offices, at the minimum, people who lead in the church in visible places must meet deacon or deaconess qualifications.YouthYouth are instructed to be sober-minded, sincere, have a pattern of good works, pure doctrine, sound speech, and be above reproach which means they cannot be publicly condemned (Titus 2:6-8). Today's church youth are overly entertained and under-challenged. The church will do well to remember that many revivals and big movements of God started with young people. Students should be a part of the ministry, mentoring younger students, being a part of the music program, and have teaching opportunities. MenMen are to be serious minded, dignified, aware of their priorities, and self-controlled (Titus 2:2). Men should also be strong in faith, love, and patience in their attitudes toward God, others, and situations. They should aim to reflect many of the same qualities that elders and deacons display in their lives. A man with proven Christian character would be a candidate as an elder, deacon, or to serve visibly in the church.WomenWomen in the church are a significant presence and force. Most churches are comprised of over 60% women. According to 1 Timothy 2, they are to be instructed to be modest with godly fear. They should show sobriety, not drawing attention to their own extravagance but having their inner beauty point the attention to Christ (1 Pet 3:3-4). Women are instructed to have godly concerns. Within church order, women are not to be public preachers or shepherds over the church which the Scriptures prescribe for men. However, women should teach other women and children (Titus 2:3-5; 1 Tim 1:5; 2:12). Women leaders must meet the qualifications for deaconesses and spiritual maturity (Titus 2:3-5; 1 Tim 2:9-15; 3:11; 1 Pet 3:1-6).This is a sampling of our Philosophy of Ministry. C. God the Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men to write the Scriptures. He helps people to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts people of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls everyone to the Savior, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. ManMen and women are the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God's creation. In the beginning people were innocent of sin and were endowed by their Creator with freedom of choice. By their free choice people sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man and woman transgressed the command of God, and fell from original innocence whereby their posterity inherited a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the salvation of God can bring people into His holy fellowship and enable them to fulfill the creative purpose of God. SalvationSalvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. A. Regeneration, or the new birth, is when believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Savior. B. Justification is the full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer into a relationship of peace and favor with God. C. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God's purposes, and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growing and walking in righteousness should continue throughout the regenerate person's life. D. Eternal SecurityAlthough people willfully choose God, according to His foreknowledge, God chose them before the foundation of the world. Believers' salvation is unchangeable. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but will persevere to the end. Baptism and the Lord's SupperChristian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord. The new birth of man's spirit by God's Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. Missionary effort on the part of all rests thus upon a spiritual necessity of the regenerate life, and is expressly and repeatedly commanded in the teachings of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ has commanded the preaching of the gospel to all nations. Sunday Study

The Sunday Study starts at 9:30am before the Sunday Service. It's a great time for fellowship, encouragement, and studying the Word. These classes are also designed to be an inter-generational, family class. 7th-12th grade are welcomed.Three reasons you need to attend Bible study:1. Your spiritual growth. Through studying the Bible regularly you gain insights into how: a. to live your life b. to make better decisions c. have a better understanding of what God wants for you by learning more about the LIFE APPLICATION of the scriptures that have been studied and discussed2. Steel on Steel. Meeting with others in a small group where everyone participates, helps you to hone your beliefs and commitment to serving God3. It's fun. The fellowship that comes from meeting with a group in a Bible study really brings out the best in everyone. You develop friendships based on a common commitment to grow in the Lord.We meet at 9:30am.

Youth

Youth Study

They youth are studying the book of Genesis to be grounded where it all began from God's creation, calling a people to Himself, and studying the patriarchs. The youth study involves close discipleship and mentorship to renew their minds to transform lives. Also, occasional service projects are targeted to help youth put large muscles to their faith. For now, youth 7th-12th will attend the adult class on Sundays at 9:30am which is designed to be an inter-generational, family class. Youth Ministry Policy.
